Build a scientific and technological innovation platform to stimulate innovation

With close attention to new policies and new developments in the country and industry, we will strengthen the prospect and strategic research on the special steel development. Adhering to innovation-driven development, we have built an open technological innovation system with enterprises as the main body and the Special Steel Research Institute as the platform by integrating internal resources and utilizing external resources.

Our institute branches, Xingcheng Special Steel Works and Daye Special Steel, have national-level technology centers and national-recognized laboratories, both of which have passed CNAS certification. Among them, Xingcheng Special Steel Works Branch is the first integrated enterprise for research and development of special steel in China, and a key bearing steel laboratory in Jiangsu Province. The laboratory of Daye Special Steel Branch has passed Nadcap certification.

With the technological innovation platform system that is enterprise-centered, market-oriented, and deeply integrated with industry, university, research, and application, we implement an international science and technology cooperation strategy that is more open, inclusive, and mutually beneficial, and more actively integrate ourselves into the global innovation network. In 2022, we have employed a total of 134 experts in various fields, including 29 overseas experts and 5 academicians.

In alignment with the China's "14th Five-Year Plan" and the manufacturing powerhouse strategy, the company focuses on national major engineering projects, the high-end escalation of the industrial value chain, and market demand. By concentrating superior resources, enhancing innovation capabilities, and improving problem-solving abilities, the company actively tackles critical projects, undertakes national missions, and enhances brand value. The group has developed key materials for major equipment, supporting the successful test flight of the AG600 large amphibious aircraft and the "Long March 2" rocket carrying "Shenzhou 14" into space, showcasing CITIC Pacific Special Steel Group's mission to provide core materials for national strategic equipment.

In 2023, CITIC Pacific Special Steel was granted 476 patents, including 122 invention patents, accumulating a total of 2,454 authorized patents and 462 invention patents, with 20 international invention patents authorized. The company participated in the revision and drafting of 21 national/industry/group standards and developed 2.58 million tons of new products throughout the year.

This collaboration spans from basic research to the development of cutting-edge products, strengthening the efficient integration and mutual promotion of fundamental research and industrial application. The company focuses on achieving significant breakthroughs in forward-looking fundamental research and leading original achievements, thereby reinforcing the deep integration of the industrial chain and leading the rapid development of the special steel industry. Additionally, CITIC Pacific Special Steel provides laboratory sharing services to SMEs, offering large-scale testing equipment worth over RMB 100 million to 53 enterprises, alleviating the investment burden in large-scale testing equipment for SMEs, and assisting them in achieving high-precision testing.
